  Mt. Fuji

Fujinomiya is the home of Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha, the original shrine devoted to the worship of Mt. Fuji! Climbers would traditionally begin their sacred pilgrimage by visitng the shrine and start their trek to the summit from the center of town. Today you can conveniently drive or take a bus to the Fujinomiya Route 5th Station, halfway up the mountain.

The main climbing season lasts only 2 months, from July 1st to August 31st. This is the peak season when services and amenities are available to the public (at a price) along the route and at the summit. However those well equipped for all-season mountaineering can attempt the journey all year round!

Regardless of the season, Fujisan is notorious for unpredictable weather. Conditions can drastically change from warm and pleasant to cold and miserable in a remakably short amount of time. We strongly advise you to dress in layers, bring an adequate supply of water and comfortable hiking shoes.

Remember to help keep our mountain clean! There are no trash bins on the mountain, so please collect all your refuse as you go and take it back with you.
